There are three kinds of information that FeedSeer News collects about you.
Information that you provide FeedSeer as you use it: This includes your Mastodon server name.
Information collected from Mastodon: When you enroll in FeedSeer News we store an access token for your Mastodon account, and some basic profile information for you. We then subscribe to your Mastodon feed (the feed of status updates from all the accounts you follow), and we retain all of the posts that appear on your feed, with the exception of direct messages, which we ignore. Feed information is currently deleted after 26 hours, but this could change in the future in order to provide new capabilities, or temporarily in the event of a technical malfunction that impacts our data maintainence.
Information that FeedSeer collects about you as you use it: Like any other web service, FeedSeer collects server logs that include information about when our site was accessed, from where, and by what kind of devices. FeedSeer's authentication system uses cookies to track logged in users.
In addition to using your information to provide our service, FeedSeer may access it in order to troubleshoot problems with our service, or perform research that enables us to improve the service and create new capabilities.
Our third party technology service providers, such as AWS, have access to the information we collect that we store within their platforms or that are necessary for them to perform their functions.
It's also possible that we might share information because we are required to by law, or because of a change in control of our organization.
FeedSeer is a new service that is still under development. As we think up new features, the nature of the data we collect and how we use it will change. This document and our Privacy Policies are subject to change at any time, as well.
